There is a bad weather alternative which will go out Oyster Clough side so make sure you have a map covering the north side of the Snake as well.

More than likely a slog up Parkin Clough for starters, and quite possibly a visit to Lose Hill too ... though not impossible we'll go east up Bamford Edge instead.

DPFR raceNorth Grain There and Back

A Graham Berry one-off collector's item in celebration of something significant.  9am start for the more mature or laid back; 9.30am for the rest. Estimated winning time of 1hour 30mins, which means many will be out closer to 2hours 30mins.  Sign in and self-time.  Full FRA kit recommended (map, compass, full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves whistle), and not a bad idea to throw in a survival bag, emergency food and mobile phone to boot.

OtherOxspring Hunshelf Amble

£5 PE; £7 EOD. Undulating, mainly off road 'multi-terrain' race described by Mike Egner as 'not a true fell race, but a combination of the Trunce and the old Hunshelf Amble'.  Not FRA insured either, so it won't count in the local league.  All in all, you'd be much better doing Graham Berry's birthday bash race, although this Penistone Footpath Runner's alternative might suit the fainter of heart/ankle.
