Bogfest Fell Race

Category A Short 7Km/450m. Saturday 23rd September at 11.00am.

Minimum age 18.

This race is being held as part of a community day during the Moors for the Future Bogfest conference alongside Farmers market etc in Edale village. Moors for the Future continue to do a fantastic job for our uplands including the regeneration of Kinder Scout. All proceeds from the race will go to Edale village charities.

Parking and start: Shaw Wood Farm SK116 854 (as per Edale Skyline parking) this will be the marked track between Edale Village and Barber Booth. Parking fee per car £3. Please use toilet facilities in the village.

Registration – on the day – entry £5

Mandatory Kit Requirement: Waterproof jacket, map, compass, whistle.

Conditions can be variable in September, if cold and wet take more clothes, if hot, don't forget the sun block.

Finish will be at the Moorland Centre in Edale village (SK124 856). It is a 10 minute walk back to the start area/parking.

Prize giving at Moorland Centre 12.30pm, prizes will be moorland themed!

Safety and notes on the route: The route is unmarked and in the first half in particular, there is steep terrain and few paths. Navigational skills needed. On the final descent from Ringing Roger you must keep to the zig-zag path. Please be polite and considerate to any walkers. There is a short section on the road to finish. Note the road will remain open to traffic so please take care. No recces of the start fields – private land. You must report to the finish if you retire.

Junior races prior to Adult race - registered but awaiting FRA Licence number.

Starting 9:30 races from age 6 and up (on the day) £3 entry fee. A tough junior race on proper fell terrain with a steep climb and a fast descent. Route will be marked/flagged. Start/finish from Shaw Wood Farm.
