A very worth while route starting on the Cold Fell road near Ennerdale. We ran in perfect conditions but I still managed to go wrong. Our directions before the race were clear, to find one of the checkpoints, go up the river valley until you come to a sheep fold and a marshal. If you get to a sheepfold and there isn't a marshal then you haven't gone far enough, keep going to the next one. Having not done the race before I only realised something was amiss when I looked over my shoulder to see how the rest of the field was doing only to see a lovely but empty landscape. The marshal for the sheepfold hadn't made it in time. When I got back on track again it was frustrating to see Chris, who was just behind me striding out to take third place. At the front, Chris Steele and Ricky Lightfoot battled hard all the way round finishing close to the record time. Keep an eye out for this one next year guys if you are on your holidays, you'll enjoy it.
