Peris Horseshoe 2019
"For all those that haven't spotted it yet online entries for the 2019 Ras Pedol Peris are now open! Follow the link below.
Details for 2019: Saturday 28th September 2019. Event Centre: The Padarn Hotel, Llanberis.
Half Peris Horseshoe Starts at 10.30am, Full Peris Horseshoe Starts at 11am (early start possible at 10.30am).
Entry Half Peris £6/Full Peris £7 (+£1 on day). Soup and roll included.
"Please remember this is a serious mountain race especially in poor weather. The route is not marked and as per WFRA rules GPS is not permitted. Full kit, including full body cover, hat, gloves, emergency rations will be required.
Please see the attached maps for the routes."
DT is hoping to do the Half Peris, in itself a magnificent major race, with the bonus of catching the bus down from Pen-y-Pass...

Ingleborough:-Only one of the three hills, but well hard enough. So I was talking to some folk about the Relays, and was met with blank faces when I mentioned Lancaster bombers flying at low level over the waters. There's more to the area than just running...

After all my prattlings about finding the way in any clag, there were no problems at all. There was a track down to CP 2, down in the valley - usually this is pathless. CP3 was visible high up, with a highway to reach it. And from CP%, the grouse butt, a veritable motorway across to Hag Dyke, staying high. Hopefully all will be normal next year, in thick fog...
With Keswick elsewhere, it should be first Men's team - the other results will emerge.

For the teams, we are all in with a shout, so getting us act together for the final Scottish AS race is vital. 3rd August, and E.O.D is fine, with no limit on entries.

Coiners:-,Results. and Coiners Juniors - Results. :- Most welcome news from Lewis:-"There was a good turnout today from Dark Peak Juniors, at the third Junior Championship race of the series. Good solid representation across the age groups and some great results in a tough field. It was perfect racing weather, cool and dry. Fortunately the longer courses found enough bog to keep everyone happy! Being dry underfoot helped with the vicious, fast down hill finish. Well done to all the travellers!
Just for good measure, Helen being the only representative in the hoops of gold and purple took the women’s race over all.

Following a good day of Junior championship racing at Coiners in Mytholmroyd, the up to date championship standings are on the Championship racing tab of the Junior blog pages (https://dpfr.org.uk/pages/view/juniors). The club is being well represented across the age categories and good team results are seeing us edge up through the team standings.

With so much route choice, loads of climbing and plenty of route choice this is my new favourite race - 18km and 1400m of up and down. For me the downside was a lot of running but there were 2 very steep climbs and a never ending descent off Sca Fell to compensate. Max Wainwright won in a new course record and DPFR narrowly missed out on the team prize being pipped by Ambleside ( if only I’d got a better line to Eel tarn). Heartily recommended (unless your Mike Nolan - sooooo rough!)"
