Saturday:-
British Relay Championships – hosted by Ambleside, all from Grasmere. Results. On a quick look, Senior Women - 7th : WV40 - 1st : Senior Men - 5th : Senior Men "B" - need help to count it out... : MV40 - 5th : MV50 - 1st :

A big , most deserved thanks to Ambleside for excellent effort and organisation , and to team organisers, getting it all sorted out, and to everyone prepared to commit to running.
Rather nasty conditions at times, drizzle throughout, with very slippy rocks and grass, and a good dose of clag, which saw the demise of certain hopeful clubs.
And so to, as ever, next year, and get the date in the diary with red letters...
There is, of course, the Lee Mill Relay, in Rossendale, November 25th, which is more open to anyone getting a team together.

Screes:-

Sunday .

Final Positions.

Those completing the Lakeland Classics Series this year are:-
Rhys – 1st : Pete Davies – 2nd : John Hunt – 11th (2nd V50) : Dave Lund – 14th : Dave Sykes – 24th : Nicky – 29th (5th W and 1st W40, W50).
Team – 2nd – a distinctly closeable gap of 0.6 points on Borrowdale.

When Swiss visitors are back home, I’ll get round to sorting out the all-years list.

Langdale- final Carshare League Counter, and also the final event in this Lakes Grand Prix. Remembering that Great Lakes Run, Carshare kept well clear, as for me it was potential trouble. Conditions appear to have been rough, needing to go around Stickle Tarn, as the outlet stream was in spate. Cut-off times were tightened, as a safety valve for the marshals. Results.
A lot of strong, safe (we hope...) trips round here, and a notable Classic win for Rhys.

Go Big Moor:- Results. No clubs are listed, so please let us know if you've been missed off...
Windgather:- results.
Rombalds Romp – should anyone want a trip around Ilkley Moor….A decent enough wander around the Moor, forever raining, and for some of us bit more wandering than was needed...results.

Is on Saturday 10th November, in Ilkley.
For once, all the individual and team medallists are listed on the main FRA website, , so well worth a check to avoid any mistakes.

Hopefully plenty will be along, and get all the medals correctly collected. Once again, if anyone is holding John Hunt's medals from last year, please have a look for them...

Results for Peris Horseshoe. A bit chilly up high, but dry and likely as good as it gets. Clear, but my intricate line off Glyder Fawr wandered all over the hillside. A very good club turnout for this classic course, and not to ignore the excellent Half Peris. No doubt Jim will elucidate further.

Fell 'n Back - results.

FRA Night -details. Saturday 10th November, in Ilkley, organised by Pusey and Bramley. With plenty of things to be awarded, to be hoped we can be well represented. Earlier we have the treat of a race around Ilkley Moor, and earlier still is the doubling up, with the Burley Moor Run

Saturday:-
Cautley Horseshoe –final English Championship race. Results, .Thanks to so many people for representing, and team/individual positions, etc won't be that long coming. A very good, hard course, and most of the lines had been sorted out. Clear for the Women, a bit damp and misty for the men.
Just a thought, whether AS races need a cut-off time, i.e. at Yarlside summit?
There's going to be some interesting photos of the river crossing...

Relays - Hodgson Brothers and UKA Fell Relays (or whatever it's correct title is..)
No doubt thoughts must be mulling around inside heads, but as ever, please get in touch with team captains if you want to be considered, it's not their task to be messing around with things...

Hodder Valley Show:- another Bowland show, a pity for them all that it was all a lot wet. Once the tractor enthusiasts had gone, we set off. Lots of just runnable fields, some heavy rough stuff to the top of some fell, and back the same way. Results.

Nine Edges Endurance:- Steve Matthews has kindly sent me a copy of the results, but no clubs are listed. Please let us know if you're not on DPFR results...And now official results.

Mountain Trial:- Results. for Classic, Medium - where the Women took first team prize, and Short and on this, as Lewis points out, Emily Barnett ran with Dad, Andy for a really good result; taking a big step up in distance for a great young racer.

Padfield Plum Fair:- results.
Bradley – near Skipton. Results. A pleasant enough trip up fields, tracks, stiles and a last sharp hill. And then all the way home....

Ben Nevis – the final British Championship race. Results. As to who has done what, all can await news from our Statistician….Looks a bit grim in the photos, mind. A few accidents, I fear...

Grisedale Horseshoe:-

Firth – from Buckden, up the opposite side to the usual Buckden Pike races. Some sensible tweaks to last year's course, to avoid some nasty, slippy limestone rocks in the wet woods. Now run in reverse, and a genuine AS course, excellent cakes at the finish. One to be looking out for....and a course worthy of Championship status. Results. (The first 20+ runners wandered, and were not listed on the results..)

Looking through the lists, especially for teams, Cautley Spout is going to be the absolute crunch. The other short race, Clough Head, was a poor result, and hopefully can be dropped. Just a matter of as many runners as possible lining up. And it's not just those scoring the points, but equally important are those who can prevent other clubs from getting points. Likely I'll have been round it by then, if it helps anyone, just in case the mist is down, and try to get a decent line down the last hillside.

After Turner Landscape - English Championships.

Results from Turner Landscape. Wiser folk than me can best be interpreting through these for what matters...

Turner Landscape - English Championship AM. Lakeland running at its very best, up Grey Friar, over Swirl How, Old Man, Dow and White Pike. Warm, dry and sunny - unlike earlier forecasts. No official results yet, the sticky labels need to be written up...
Apologies to those I never met up with, there aren't so many DPFR vests at the back when we start off, and most are sat in the stream by the time I eventually finish. Cautley Spout next for me, and I'll have got it learnt by then...Obviously it will be the deciding crunch race for teams and individuals, and the obvious marker for getting considered for the prestigious Relays.

Lakeland Classics Is looking good just now for Pete Davies, in first place. Wasdale and Borrowdale are now added on, so that leaves two more events, Three Shires and Langdale....

Long and Half Tour of Bradwell.- Results.

Arncliffe Gala - results.

Trunce 8 - results.

Results. From Kate’s Race – Isle of Man. English AM Championship. Problems were caused by the morning mist over the airport, so plane(s) circled round waiting, and deemed it too dangerous to land and returned home. Hot, clear and dry. They had put on an excellent, hard course, starting at the beach at Laxey, to finish on Snaefell summit. For an uphill race there were some big drops to be negotiated. For those who, like Carshare, had never been to the Isle of Man, it’s a very pleasant scenic place to be visiting.

Relays..... a good while off as yet. The Hodgson Brothers Relay is 7th October, four paired legs, from Patterdale. Likely the usual Men, MV40 and Women's teams, as there is a tight limit on entries. Most definitely a course for people with Lakes hills in the legs and the ability to thrive in bad conditions.
The UKA British Relays are from Grasmere, 20th October. Details and route descriptions. Just now we have Men, MV40, MV50, Women, WV40 teams. Maybe nearer the time it might be possible to enter additional teams, if it don't get over-subscribed.
Team selection is always hard, and a proven track recent record over similar terrain is a considerable help.

Crookstone Crashout:-

Chrome Hill – and also Notts Fell Championships. Results. Dicky sends:-"Thanks to Hollinsclough School for hosting the Notts Fell Champs in their Chrome Hill race, the replacement for the snowed-off Wolf's Pit race back in March. Glorious weather and dry hard underfoot conditions except where the two springs create the usual bog-fest for this gem of a race - the crossing of the ridge of Chrome Hill to the summit doesn't last long but it's wonderful and a quick eyes off the ground look around shows how special this valley in the upper reaches of the Dove is.DPFR in the Notts Fell Champs this year were:
Graham Moffat bronze overall and V45 gold;
and Dicky Wilkinson V55 gold.

Saunders Lakeland MM - results.
Up The Nab – Juniors Championship events - all results.
Whaley Waltz - results.

Wharfedale 2Peaks – or 3Peaks – from Kettlewell, in support of the Mountain Rescue. Only two peaks for Carshare, Buckden Pike and across to Great Whernside.
