The quintessential dark peak race. Lovely running in the heart of the peak district, lovely that is, if you like leaping over vegetation.
RO Andy Harmer. This is a long early season winter outing. Although enjoyable it is challenging (and unmarshalled); the race has been run for 32 years and in that time has been shortened, abandoned as well as survived. There is only one unambiguous hazard - Abbey Brook, which can be a trickle or a torrent. If in doubt do not cross, or seek support. Full FRA kit as a minimum, but add extra layers according to conditions - and come prepared to utilise map, compass and whistle as appropriate. All runners must sign in at the start and declared themselves at the finish, even if they've dropped out mid-race. If you hit trouble on the course, generally best to head west for the reservoir path.
