Annual pilgrimage across Rud Hill via, or rather under, Burbage Bridge, up the Plummet, over Higger, down to the Mitchell Field finger post, up Callow Bank (all the way to top please), across to the Cowper Stone, wet feet to Stanedge Pole (new and improved), then homeward along the routinely bleak Friar's Ridge to Rud Hill (again), and by one of a number of lines through the quarries to the finish. Post-race liquids in the Norfolk Arms to celebrate our survival. Electrical prizes this year, it is to be hoped, will be provided oncemore from the Alladin's Cave that is Austin's cellar. Austin is RO - he says "all hecklers will be disqualified" so I'd keep the complaints to a minimum.
Not much climb, but that is more than made up for by the rough and wet terrain - and as last year's participants fully demonstrated, surprisingly easy to mess up the lines too. A race which should not to be underestimated by the uninitiated. Full FRA kit and mobile phone recommended. Starts at the access point on Ringinglow Road. See link for location of controls.
