Club races that appear in the calendar are primarily organised for the benefit of our members and are not normally open to non members. It is recommended that non-members who are interested in joining Dark Peak come along to one of our club runs in the first instance.
Date and Time:
Wednesday 19th June 2019, 6:30pm
Event type: DPFR race
League(s): Dark Peak Races League
The Crookstone crashout will be the original course, to the knoll then Trig and return to the knoll.
There will be 2 separate races, the first at 6.30 when slower runners (45 minutes to an hour) will go off. The fast race will be at 7.30 with the aim that the whippets will have a go at the records.
The records are Malcolm Patterson 29.37 (1986), vets Andy Harmer 29.40 (1989), over 50 Graham Berry 33.14 (1996), women's Jackie Smith 35.36 (1989). Current members with fast times are Tim Tett 29.54 (1984), Bob Berzins 31.00 (1986), Graham Berry 31.19.(1984). It will take some doing to break 32 minutes but that was a slow winning time in those halycon days of the 1980s!
P.S. As a guide, those slower than Tim Hawley should be in the 6.30 start. They could also then try to win the first race!
PPS. Minimum age is 13 for the 6:30 start. If there is poor visibility, under 16s will need to run with an adult. For any Juniors considering it, the course is rough, with a steep climb/descent an it is un-marshalled.
