News from Donard-Commedagh British Champs race
Thanks to everyone travelling to represent Dark Peak over in Ireland, in the beautiful setting of the Mourne Mountains. Dark Peak were 3rd best supported, and fitting that Matt went up for the prize, so well has he been running. This is a superb, hard course, no flat anywhere. Dry, clear and warm, what a contrast from Edale - many going round in vest and shorts. Once out of the woods a long, long slog up Donard, then try to find the grassy bits on the slippy descent to the col. A sharp climb up the other side, and let fly down the rough stuff back to the woods. Lloyd was 4th, and Mike Egner repeated his 1st V50 position of Edale. With late withdrawals the Senior Team didn't figure - we need to get full team out at Carneddau : Vets were 2nd, but the British Championships doesn't have a V50 Team, or 5 year categories.
An excellent weekend, and Ireland put on a terrific event, as always.
