Dambusters Flypast Wednesday 16 May

You may be aware that there will be a flypast by the Lancaster of Dambusters fame on Wed 16th. It's going to be flying over Howden, Derwent & Ladybower reservoirs, then down to Chatsworth and Derby. Expected to be at Ladybower around 12.05 (all subject to decent weather).

It's worth noting that there are going to be road restriction in place till about 4pm as below:

The permanent traffic signals at the following locations will be manually controlled in peak times (especially post event to all speedy departure from the area):-
  • Junction A57 / A6013.
  • Junction Station Road, Bamford / Sickleholme.
A mandatory Temporary 20mph speed limit will be in place along the A57 (between Cutthroat Bridge westerly for 2.6 miles).
There will be a Full Road closure on Derwent Lane with 3 way temporary traffic signals be in place at junction A57 (manually controlled in peak times). Traffic will not be allowed onto Derwent Lane, from the A57, between 12 Noon to 3pm (at the earliest). The aim is to allow traffic to leave Derwent Lane as swiftly as possible post event, and this restriction will be lifted as soon as the area returns to normal. Residents of Derwent Lane should plan their day accordingly.
Arrangements are being made by DCC’s Public Transport Unit to mitigate School Transport arrangements on Derwent Lane. This will be communicated by DCC PTU to the families concerned.
Highways England are being asked to sign this event on the Variable Message Signs on their roads subject to their protocols. The aim is to get passing traffic to take a different route
Derwent Lane will have single file parking along southbound carriageway only, when car parks are full. There will be Traffic Operatives in place to direct traffic in 4 sections to control flow of traffic. There will be three no passing points in place for Emergency vehicles on Derwent Lane.
Hagg Barn car park to be signed for Motorcycles Only.
Fairholmes Car parks to be reserved for disabled traffic.
New Road, Bamford will become a One Way (westbound only); this will be all day unless otherwise signed.
Lydgate Lane / Carr Lane / Thornhill Lane will also will become a One Way ( west / southerly direction); this will be all day unless otherwise signed. This creates an anti-clockwise gyratory with the A6013 in the middle.
No parking areas (cones & signage at various points on the A57 / A6013 / Bamford village) will be identified and enforced by Police and Civil Enforcement Officers.
Emergency planning (Event Control will be located at Heatherdene Car Park).
Police will provide four motorcycle officers to patrol the A57 and A6013.
Parking enforcement officers will be on the route at various points.
It is hoped all traffic restrictions will be lifted by 4pm, but locals should abide by the signage until the signs are removed.
