After weeks of foggy, icy weather the day before the Crashout saw the barometer dive by 50 millibars and a storm sweep across the Peak District. Sheffield station disappeared under a few feet of water, a landslide blocked the railway at Edale and the Snake River burst its banks in places. It made the following day look dry and calm... i.e. it was raining a little, the wind could only be described as strong and the little road to Rowlee Bridge was under less than two feet of water!
