The weather was so much better than last year but I took no chances and found that I was overclad and for the second time I got lost in mist coming off Snaefell. Incredibly I was without a reliable compass, mine having recently been smashed on the lid of a car bootlid. Almost as bizarre was discovering that Geoff Oliver (one of the most experienced runners over this course) had a compass with a faulty needle that only pointed in the direction of Ramsey. It did mean of course that I could relive part of last year's TT40 road race. Thanks Geoff!
Ed. Glad to see Frank maintained the dark Peak presence in one of the best long races in the calendar. After a three year enforced absence from the race I would love to get back there seventh attempt... maybe next year.
