Long Mynd Valleys on Sunday 10th February 2013

14 hardy DP souls in 5 cars with 2 ringers and 1 non-running DP passenger (of which more shortly) were in attendance for this, the very first Carshare League fixture. A pretty grim day, with sleet and a bitter wind in parts, and very wet/muddy underfoot/bottom, leading to a rather slower winning time than is typical; most of us nevertheless enjoyed our runs, with our esteemed chair looking positively pleased with himself at the finish.  Congrats to Spyke for 1st vet, Dave T 2nd V45, Ash 2nd V50, Helen 2nd FV40, and Laura 2nd F and highest scoring ringer.

It was decided on the start line - well at registration in fact - that the ruling on ringers for the season is that one only can count per vehicle towards the team prize, and where there are more than one ringers in a vehicle then it is the lowest scoring of those ringers that counts.  Engine sizes having been duly noted (I have the spreadsheet evidence for any doubters; Mike, Ash), I can reveal the winners of the team prize on this occasion are Lewis' vehicle (Lewis, David L, Helen & my good self), some 15 points clear of the Hathersage Landy, and fully 30 points clear of Ash's meat wagon.  I just need to work out how paltry a prize I can get away with now.

The biggest tactical error of the day was clearly Mike N's failure to insist that Judith J run; Jude was in attendance, and ladelling out the rather fine soup quite expertly at the end, but for whatever reason had chosen not to race - much to Lewis's relief, it has to be noted.  Jackie Lee was also in attendance, but fortunately for the winning team was not accompanied by Lloyd; and it was good also to catch up briefly with Yvonne too.

Definitely worth the trip over.  Next stop, Brough Law on March 10th.
