Club Championships on Saturday 16th November 2013

The handicapper reports: "This year was a harder race to handicap as it was longer than many in recent years. It is a challenge to get the start intervals right when there may be quite a few minutes between people at the end. People were definitely seen to group up a bit with the need for navigation. Roger B obviously suffered from having won last year. At least one other previous winner was charitable about his fate. I had a concern that the estimated time was too short and once overtime, the front end of the field start to gain an advantage. As it was, sticking to my initial plan saw the result about right. As ever, those with fewer race results proved hard to handicap. I'm going to have to get harder on them next year I think. There were some notable complaints about handicaps before the race. One was from a top ten finisher, who complained I'd been too generous for someone who finished in the bottom 5. So that complainant can expect what is coming to him next year! Jim Twohig has a DNF as he did not visit CP5 - it might be said he goofed at not visiting Goofy."
