Tegness Pinnacle on Wednesday 13th June 2018

With the Sharpener organiser Dave recovering from surgery an on-the-fly decision for a one-off(?) race to Tegness Pinacle and back visiting Mother Cap at some point was organised instead. This took people to the rarely visited Longshaw estate and probably the first time the club has been to Tegness Quarry on a Wednesday evening – even on those odd occasions when we ran from the Grouse many years ago.

And so getting their and finding it proved an interesting challenge for many people- most of whom had never heard of it let alone visit it - with various routes between Mother Cap and the pinnacle across Padley Gorge being taken. The ‘Green Drive’ route home was very popular but hard work and if we ever run this again an additional visit to Carl Wark summit might break up the monotony of track running.

Pete stormed off from the start and had a commanding lead at the finish. The minor places were hard fought with many position changes en-route – Tim and Charlie getting to the pinnacle in 2nd place via different routes having been 6th at Mother Cap and John Webber losing a lot of time on the return route somewhere.Good to see 3 ‘guests’ (Matt, Ryan, Emma) run with the club for the first time – you might be seeing some more of these people armed with cameras in the coming weeks and months – more later.
